My abstract paintings explore the influence of subjective perception in our objective view.
For the past few years, I have been working on abstract paintings that explore notion of perception. It deals with the
formal aspects of abstraction as a means to interface illusion and reality.
My initial artistic inspiration has been influenced by ideas and styles of modern abstract painters like Ad Reinhardt, Robert Ryman and Josef Albers. These artists have advocated the separation of art from social and political matters, trying to eliminate any outside references in their works.
While this historical reference remains relevant in my work, I am interested in more complex visual language that conveys emotional interaction between audience and painting.
I play with the technical elements of how light, both natural and artificial, interacts with the appearance of painting and
with colours. Many thin coats of paints help the light to reflect on the canvas surface. This stimulates the viewer's
perception of different hues and tones. The tape produces an overlapping of little squares and paint coats, increasing the possibility of multiple visual results.
My ultimate artistic goal is to achieve the public awareness of how abstract painting emphasize individual perception and its interaction involves our controlled and uncontrolled emotion.
